Trois Bassins is one of the municipalities most beautifully decorated with flowers by the island. At the origin of the name, Three ponds of which there is at present nothing more.
This municipality possesses a rich agricultural past with the coffee(cafe) and the sugar cane, moreover the sugar factory, belonging to the family Gautier, worked in 1846. She(it) was fed with sticks by two cable railways some vestiges of which there are only today.
The culture of the geranium allowed to many planters to survive the sugar crisis, and at present one can always attend "the cooked" craft of the Geranium.
The municipality claims the property of the Icebox, on the hillsides of Grand Bénare, this place would have been fitted out by certain Morenas towards 1830 and as Madam Desbassyns would have acquired(bought back) to him(her) afterward.
